Different timing of whitefly control and soybean yield Ciência Rural
Vieira,Simone Silva; Bueno,Regiane Cristina Oliveira de Freitas; Bueno,Adeney de Freitas; Boff,Mari Inês Carissimi; Gobbi,Alysson Luis.
Trials were carried out in Paraúna, Goiás, Brazil, to evaluate the impact of whitefly on soybean yield. The experimental design was a randomized block, with four treatments and four replications (10m x 20m). The treatments were different levels of infestation, managed by applying insecticide at different timing; the control was kept free of insects by weekly insecticide spraying. The number of insects per leaflet was evaluated weekly, and at harvest the yield (kg ha-1) and the weight of 100 seeds (g) were recorded. The soybean was tolerant to whitefly, since only the treatment where nymphs per leaflet reached 136.31±26.60 (treatment without the use of insecticides) was sufficiently severe to cause yield loss. This loss was likely associated with the sooty...

Economic Injury Level of Canjiqueira in Native Pastures in Pantanal of Nhecolândia Planta Daninha
BERSELI,C.; BONO,J.A.M.; SANTOS,S.A.; PEREIRA,F.A.R.; REIS NETO,J.F..
ABSTRACT: Pantanal plain has large extensions of land formed by many types of landscapes suitable to extensive livestock system. Open grasslands and lowlands are formed by forage such as grasses and forbs widely consumed by cattle. However, climatic and human factors can promote the dissemination of invasive shrub species such as canjiqueira (Byrsonima cydoniifolia A. Juss) making it necessary, in many cases, the human intervention to control the invasion. The present work had as objective to determine the economic threshold level to control canjiqueira through two methods: tractor driven blade and link chains pulled by tractor in different invasion levels plants per hectare. Economic Threshold proved to be a tool for efficient and effective management for...

การจัดการศัตรูข้าวแบบผสมผสานในนาชลประทานภาคใต้ Thai Agricultural
Chanasirin Klinmanee; Orak Tongdej; Wattana Posiri.
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) trial sets were conducted at Phatthalung, Naknon Si Thammarat and Songkhla provinces from wet season year 2011 to wet season year 2013 included 5 crops in 3 years. The data population of insect pests and natural enemies, percent damage of diseases, percent damage of animal pests, species and wet weigh of weeds, yield per rai, costs, price of yield and net benefit were collected and compared with Farmer Practice (FP) trial. The results found that IPM trial had more natural enemies than FP trial and major pests were rice thrips, green leafhoppers, rice leaffolder, zigzag leafhopper, whitebacked planthoper, rice bug, blast disease, brown spot disease, rats, golden apple snails, Leptochloa chinensis, Fimbristylis miliaceaf,...

ประเมินความเสียหายและระดับเศรษฐกิจของแมลงบั่วที่เข้าทำลายข้าว พันธุ์ต้านทานและอ่อนแอ Thai Agricultural
Pannipa Yajai; Anchalee Takham; Kulchana Ketsuwan.
Gall midge is one of the most important insect pest of rice in Thailand. The lavae caused severe crop damage during the vegetative stages (seedling to panicle initiative) by producing tube-like called “silver shoot” or “onion leaf” that prevent panicle production. Thus, understanding the economic threshold level is an important prerequisite for determining control measure. This study was conducted to estimate percentage of damage and yield loss by gall midge infestation. The popular rice gall midge resistant and susceptible varieties were used to study the number of gall midge infested that can be reached to economic threshold level. The experimental design was split-split plot in RCB having rice variety as main plot (resistant varieties: RD53, MN 62 M,...
